I've always said I would probably work until I die.?ÿ
However, I just got back 8 pages of honey dos on three projects from reviewers.?ÿ
Some of them include legitimate concerns such as a typo.?ÿ
But so many of the others are simply madding.?ÿ
Two in particular: they asked for either topo or drainage arrows to be put on one plan, I put a storm of arrows on it and they wanted topo anyway. So I sent the plan down with topo edited out to 10' contours and screened in the background. Well, now they say the topo is making it messy so either remove it or dial it back to 50' intervals. The second one is a backing out of a promise they made to me that research done by me and them has recovered all the historical records and I can move forward. Now they are saying that they discovered a record that will overturn the entire project. Great!!!!
Other changes are either wrong (which I either argue about or give in to) on their part or so picky it's to the point of abuse of my client through me.?ÿ
If this continues I will not work very much longer.?ÿ
Tell them you're sorry but it's not your problem if they can't read a simple contour.?ÿ ????ÿ
The reviewer should be focused on the product, not the process.?ÿ Errors are common as we all make them from time to time.?ÿ Dictating process is not the role of a reviewer.
Reviewers should recommend changes, not dictate changes.?ÿ It is the product of the licensee first and foremost.
Review comments should be limited to two categories. First, things that must be added or changed to comply with laws, rules and ordinances. Second are suggestions to make the product better. The reviewer must place a bright line between the two.
Some of this stems from a SCOTUS case that was recently adjudicated. I'm located in the cross hairs of the ongoing battle. Lucky me.?ÿ
The joys of collateral damage. The only thing worse than a bad decision is when somebody with limited comprehension skills tries to weaponize it.
Best of luck..
@holy-cow?ÿ many of our local real estate attorneys have retired fed up with some clerk requiring them to format language to their preference.?ÿ We gets lots of comments from clerks and from licensed professionals who have nothing better to do than use many different local, state and federal codes for their comments.?ÿ Mighty Moe, I feel your pain but don't expect it to get better.?ÿ ?ÿbureaucracy

However, I just got back 8 pages of honey dos on 312 things SWMBO wants done.
If this continues I may return to work.

"Honey, are you going to town today??ÿ If so, swing by the grocery store and pick up a half dozen of those little tubs of ham salad, chicken salad and egg salad that we like so much."
Buddy if that's your idea of a grocery list I envy you. ?????ÿ
Yeah.?ÿ My wife just retired (younger than me).?ÿ Immediately she started talking about what we needed to do to the house.?ÿ
Wouldn't this save you a fortune in redlining and editing ?
You just send them the first draft and let the chips fall where they will.?ÿ ?????ÿ
Have a secretary or your wife or anyone who has no emotional attachment to the plat record it for you.?ÿ There's no need for you to waste time dealing with that mess.
This is a good reason for counties to provide an option for e-recording.?ÿ

I'm behind e-recording 100%
Mylar is a waste, at this point
I'd probably be in favor of e-recording too, especially seeing as how I don't own a plotter yet.?ÿ ????ÿ
Some items are sent to them electronically, some have to be mailed with mylar and a legal signed document.?ÿ
I'm sending two permits today electronically and waiting for a client to come in and sign a petition that requires a mailing. What's the difference?,,,,,,,,,heck if I know.?ÿ
The hard bound ones won't even be reviewed until you send in a "final".
A conundrum occurs when your client, such as a government agency, is the reviewer.?ÿ It drives me crazy when they dictate professional items such as legal description wording.?ÿ It's my legal, I'll write it however I feel fit.
But, I must acquiesce to their review comments or nothing will get approved.?ÿ?ÿ
Yes.?ÿ Satisfying some desk jockey who knows absolutely nothing except how to follow a style book filled with BS is very aggravating.?ÿ Having that issue right now with FEMA.
