I'm pretty sure this is a first for me. A client living in Chelmsford, England needs to split out some property about 30 miles from my office. Chelmsford, from my office, is about 4460 miles as the crow flies if it never stops for food or rest.

That's probably a record. I had a gent in Washington D.C. call me once, but never anybody outside the USA.

Lots of "out of towner's" over the years.

Off the top of my pointy head:

Canada
Germany
Switzerland
South Africa
Australia
Turkey
Iraq
United Arab Emirates

and currently working on a project for a group from the Netherlands.

Most of them International Mining Companies.

Chelmsford

I'm curious.
How is that pronounced in the King's English?

Chelmsford

Ha! 😀

I live about 15 minutes from Chelmsford Massachusetts.

and it's pronounced "Chelms-FID" here in New England.

She was originally from that part of the world. Her family moved to the US when she was a teenager. Married a local yokel. Eventually they divorced. That was two or three years ago. They agreed to not split the property until 2014, for some reason as yet not shared with me. She found her way back to jolly old England, found a boyfriend from her early teenage days and married him. At least, that is the way it was explained to me.

It was a bit of a shock to find a message on the answering machine that included the direction to not try to call her back as she was in London at the time and somewhat unreachable most of the time. London, Ohio would have been a big enough surprise for me.

Turns out I went to school with an older brother and sister of the ex-husband, plus I did a survey for another of his brothers about ten years ago. Didn't know this fellow even existed.

I bought a 6 acre parcel, about 10 miles from where I live, from a guy who had permanently moved to Thailand. It took about 7 months to close the deal. He lived out in the boonies, so when we needed his notarized signature, he had to travel about 70 miles to get to a notary. And as you can imagine, mail service wasn't real speedy!

A bit off thread now but the parcel deal worked out good for me. The County had it listed as 4.5 acres but a quick stitch together of all the surveys surrounding it (they all worked fine!) told me that I really bought 6 acres! And its still on the tax roll as 4.5 but my description and existing corner stakes amount to 6 acres with zero conflicts with neighbors.
