@absurveyor18548 thatƒ??s about what we are estimating to build one in house around $2500. But that depends on who all is doing it crew chief i man me etc. ?ÿNow I estimate the true cost much higher. ?ÿI put our billable rate down instead of the hourly wage etc. the reason is if i bill out at a higher rate than what i pay my crews then that time spent doing that box building is costing me. Thats if they build during the regular work hours. ?ÿTime is money. ?ÿOf course the carpenter is billing out his time as well and his estimate i received was higher than the $2500 with cost of materials and his time. It was a right of passage in my early days of surveying. ?ÿHere is your truck see if you can get a box built by next week. Of course they paid for the supplies but not time. ?ÿI didnƒ??t complain i was excited to customize my own. Plus i like building stuff. Unfortunately I donƒ??t have time now. ?ÿWell i have not made time. ?ÿBetween studying farming and surveying then kids and family time a surveying box is last on my priority list. I am not a crew chief anymore so looking at alternatives as neither of my chiefs desire or want to build one. I think in todayƒ??s time it makes more since to just buy a pre built set up. ?ÿI have a new crew chief onboarding next week and we are still interviewing more. So much work not enough personal. ?ÿI spent last few days half a day doing equipment supplies and the other research at courthouse. ?ÿTracking down late 1800ƒ??s to early 1900 deeds and plats. ?ÿWhat fun. Love seeing the old drawings by hand reading the cursive beautiful art work and seeing poles vs feet for units. ?ÿWhen you read some of these and compare to some of todayƒ??s you can see the detail they used back then. I mean you could almost not even have to measure a darn thing as they made very descriptive calls to land marks and such. Of course this is the very reason i am back in land surveying. Love this stuff.
