@robertusa The life of plastic caps will vary greatly, depending mostly on direct sun exposure, but also on ambient heat.?ÿ I've found decades old plastic caps that still looked nearly new in locations around the Puget Sound, and found others that were nearly disintegrated even though buried a tenth or two in the hot dry soils of various part of California less than 5 years prior.?ÿ Yet, most surveyors, even in those areas where plastic caps don't last under practically any normal conditions for more than a few years continue to use them because they're cheap.
