I have used both the rugby and some?ÿ spectra model or another. The rugby is indeed durable, if it can stand up to a bunch of miners for years it should be able to take whatever you can throw at it, that said I kind of like the ergonomics of the spectra, it is easy to use without reading the manual and for loaning out to non-survey crews it is nice that the case has it all, tripod, rod, receiver etc., that probably does not matter to you and may be a hindrance even what with a large case and all.

I know nothing about the Topcon, but am generally suspicious of the brand.

You can do a lot more with the right rotary laser than most people realize, tilting to plane or turning on their side for line are two good examples where they can save a lot time.

Don't forget to check and peg it.

It sounds like your dealer has it figured out, hard to go wrong with Leica stuff.

Edit to add that I saw a linker for for a rotary level the other day and did not know they existed until spotted in the wild.
