brand new unit (2 mo.)
Turn it off and it comes back on after about 3 sec.
will display a batt. warning dialog that doesn't indicate a clue as to what causes this.
anyone know what this is about?

We had the same issue on our first TSC3 (I think that's the same unit). The malfunction happened mainly after the collector got wet (working in the rain).
Is your unit wet? There was some sort of issue with the rubber boot on the early models. This caused the problem you describe.
We wound up getting a replacement since this issue continued many times.

wet is my environment. we were in a steady drizzle all day yesterday.
I expected a weather resistant unit. thought this was built to a rigorous mil. spec.

Yeah, same here. We purchased the TSC3 with radio built-in to run the Trimble S6 (and GPS). I think I paid over $7,000 for the unit. I'd recommend explaining the problem to the dealer...if he's a stand-up guy (or girl), you'll be issued a replacement.
Our new TSC3 has no problems...we use it all day in the rain. Obviously, that's how it should be.

Ours had the same problem, until we installed the latest firmware update, however now the thing is bleeding power and can't make it a weekend unless it is plugged in. It is as though the bluetooth or some other function is on and draining the battery. Anyone else with this issue?
