On my Val Map it has two bearings, One being the deed bearing from the original taking, the other with "Ast." at the end? I am curious what it stands for? I would think that that Ast bearing is from when the Val map was made in the early 1900's.

Probably "astro" or "astronomic."

But I'm just guessing...

I agree with Loyal - "Astronomic" is the probable meaning.
