I put my old oldest in charge of the construction staking crew last year with a little trepidation. I have been very please with his accomplishments. I knew he was going to be OK when he called me one day. - Pop , the foundation man has his robot set up and the steal man has his robot set up and I have my robot set up. I said sounds like a cluster "!@#" . Steel man says our columns are .20' to far north, foundation man says there perfect. I rechecked and they are perfect. By this time the job site administrators where calling me. I said talk with my crew chief hes got it.
So Steel man had just got this new gizmo with a robot where he could resection from control points and it would slap the building grid on his handheld gizmo. Trouble is he did not know how to use it and was trying to resection from two close points being basically in line with them instead of perpendicular to them. Also was not level. My son was trying to explain to him , he just started yelling and saying his new equipment was right no matter what, blah blah. then challenge my lad to a fight. Now that would be a bad idea since he was a D2 wrestler in college. Anyway the end result was the shirtless steel, idiot was made to look like a jackass. And I did not have to get involved. The contractors have a deep respect for the young man. Super says what you about 30 years old . No 23, what the hell , you handled yourself very confidently. Proud papa. He has worked with me since he could see them bubble and every summer since 8th grade.
One more , he had to check the elevation of the top windows sills above his head. I said how you do it. I flipped the pole over and put the point on the window sill above my head and put a negative rod height. I never would though of that. But it worked the negative rod height calc'd the elevation up the poll. Dam he taught me something.
This is one of my all time favorite posts. Truly beautiful, and encouraging. Thanks for sharing this man. Congratulations.
Negative road height, eh? :gammon:
resections,,,,,,,,,,yeah, that sounds about right, what can go wrong with a resection:whistle:
Sounds like he took care of it, good job
2 point resection nonetheless...those are my fave! The residuals are always so low
Congrats on how well your Son has progressed, speaks a lot about his Pops too. I hope my boy will grow up with similar traits. Thanks for sharing.
