My Leica TS06 Plus is recording all of my surveys 180 degrees upside down and I can't figure out what is causing this. I am sure to set my orientation on a set station by setting the horizontal angle of a sight bearing and to also not flip the objective. Why does it do this?
Does this have to do with the setting where you "tell" the instrument which side you want the horizontal motion screw to call face I? (Screw on your left or on your right) I'm not sure about the TS06 PLus but on mine you have that option.
On the Leica TS06 Plus I have a setting called Face | Def. which sets the Face 1 in relation to the position of the vertical drive. It can be set to V-Left (Sets Face 1 to be when the vertical drive is on the left of the instrument) or it can be set to V-Right (Sets Face 1 to be when the vertical drive is on the right of the instrument). I wish there was someone in here that knows the Leica TS06 Plus so that they could tell me whether I am on the right track or not.
Some data collectors have a toggle in the job settings for azimuth north and azimuth south (180). Could it be something like this? Is the 180 degrees that you mention horizontal, vertical, or both?
Try looking under Regional Settings and make sure that everything is set correctly. I normally use default settings here.

Its only rotating 180 degrees in the horizontal. When I export the data out to DXF, north is at the bottom of the page instead of the top. My regional settings are set to default.
My Leica TS06 Plus does not have a toggle for azimuth north and azimuth south anywhere.
are you seeing a rotation 180 degrees or a mirror image?
I am seeing a 180 degree rotation.
you might want to post some data - GSI raw data as well as DXF would be preferable.
EDIT - upload the contents of the DBX job folder if possible.
I am not seeing a way to upload files into this forum.

That upload button is only for images. It doesn't work for survey files.
Dennisg,
I do not have an actually unit in house to work with right now and I am only using the FlexLine simulator to test. I cannot see anything that would cause this unless there is a bug in the firmware version that I have not heard about. The setting - 5 Settings - 2 Regional - Page 1 - Hz Increment - Choose left or right is there to be able to reverse the angle from clockwise to counterclockwise but... the angles are recorded as clockwise in the job. This setting allows say to layout by have a counter clockwise angle such as if you were laying out a curve manually but doing it by deflection angle. I am sure there are other things that would need this but I cannot see that this is causing the issue.
I have been through other settings and I cannot see anything else that would cause an issue on the FlexLine PLus. I also started a survey by oreintating in Face II instead of Face I and this did not cause the issue.
Questions:
1. Is all of the data exported out 180°? I am wondering if you have multiple setups if some come in correct or if the are all out the same.
2. What version of firmware are you running on the instrument? Look at Main menu 6 Tools - 3 Info - Page 2 - Look at Instr Firmware filed and Build number (first and second lines). Maybe this is a bug in the version you are running. I can check into it if you can post the firmware version.
Let me know about the questions and I will dig into it.
My Hz Increment is set to RIGHT.
All of the data is exported out 180 degrees. To fix this I just simply rotate the data back up 180 degrees inside AutoCAD. But this is so defeating.
I am running firmware v.3.01 build 544.
have to use dropbox or similar then. I think the raw file will reveal what is going on, when compared to the DXF. I am wondering if the problem lies with the DXF output format FRT file.
could try downloading and using a FRT file from here - http://www.engineeringsurveyor.com/utilities/leica_formats.htm
are the angles reading correctly on the screen when you are surveying, and then they are wrong later on? or are they showing wrongly on the screen?
They read correctly on the screen and are then wrong later on. On the instrument I have set my bearing as zero degrees pointing north. So what happens is when I export the data as dxf or ascii into autocad, I always get north pointing straight downwards instead of upwards. The same thing happens in Leica FlexOffice.
what method do you use in flex office for importing the data?
Import ascii data.
