In searching some survey supplies, I encountered someone selling a pole mounted clipboard for $110.
I have been using my homemade one for a few years now, and it cost less than three bucks, so I thought I would share. This is for a 1" rod, like Seco, Sokkia, Topcon, etcetera. It would easily work with other sized rods, but the routing clip would have to be correctly sized.
Parts Required:
Hardboard clipboard (I used a 7"x11" that I cut down to 7"x6" to get to field note size, Mcmaster-Carr part No: 1268T2 - $2.04)
1" Plastic Connect Routing Clip (Mcmaster-Carr pt No 2339t12 - $0.80)
2 small flathead machine screws, and matching bolts.
Tools required:
Saw (if you are cutting the clipboard in half)
Drill with small drill bits
I hope this helps somebody.
I have made a visor out of cardboard for the DC to control glare and fastened a zip tie to serve as a loss proof stylus.
Nice artwork on the front! Must be a little difficult to use on a windy day.
Glare? The new data collectors are supposed to be glare proof. Not!
Add second clip at opposite end for those freakish left-handed people (like me).

The Leica CS20 is easy to see on a Sunny day, it's a big improvement over the CS15.
