Pics of monument I found.

I found this monument the other day. It reminds me of the some of the pics J. Penry posts. This is near Dallas City Illinois and I was using it as a check from another monument I set my GPS up on. The NGS data sheet reads like it was set like other triangulation stations in my area that were set in the 1930's. I suspect this monument was already in place so they used it. It up high on a bluff overlooking the Mississippi River. The one photo shows the view which is almost overgrown with trees.

Great photos! It amazes me that there are still some of these monuments in existence with the propensity of mankind to take anything that they feel might possibly have any slight monetary value without regard to the historical value of others to enjoy later.
