Interesting. The problem is that these are significant distractions to safe driving, especially the last one. I know I would be attempting to read the message in its entirety, which requires too long for the average driver in traffic.

Loved those as a kid. Helped me learn to read. But, I was far too young to be driving.
The good thing was they were strung out over a long distance so the total eye time was short for each sign.

I remember two or three sets of the authentic signs we would drive past when I was a kid. You sometimes see imitations nowadays. Don't know if I still have it, but once owned a book with the history and full collection of official rhymes.
The whole sign thing reminds me of a great one I saw outside of Austin last summer. It was a school zone sign that stated to slow to 50mph. Guess that is one way to get rid of the slow ones.
