This person came into the office Friday. They had a description written by someone else. This person is not the grantor, the grantee, or a neighbor. But on this deed it referenced a Record of Survey by Mighty-Moe Inc. The reference did not give the ROS# and this person wanted to know how to get the ROS. I told them it was at the courthouse, that I file all my ROS at the courthouse and that they are available to the public for free. They wanted to know which one it is. I told them that looking at the deed did not describe the particular survey so I can't say which one it is.?ÿ

They then asked why a professional surveyor doesn't know their own survey. It went downhill from there.?ÿ

This person didn't want to hire me, pay me, or even be respectful to me in my own office.

The first time in my long time being a surveyor I kicked someone out of my office, and I wasn't pleasant about it.?ÿ

I always place the recording or filing info at the bottom of my description. In Ohio nothing is standard county to county. Some record a new subdivision of land, some file them at the tax map. Most?ÿ lawyers just attach my description at as an exhibit but those that don't usually go ahead and place that info in after re-typing the description. I hate those that don't because some yahoo will inevitably call wanting a copy. After explaining to them it's on file/record at the county and while I'm on the phone punching up the the file and giving them the recording info/ tax map book and page number the will still ask if I can't just send them one. After explaining that I'll have to charge an hour (and what my hourly rate is) and that if they go to the county they can get it for almost nothing, no more than 2$ dollars, they decide they can go down an get it. I've had?ÿ more than a few call me an a-hole before handing up. I wasn't going to work for them anyway. People can be such lazy s**ts.
