I bought it in hopes of getting away from Adobe. MISTAKE.
Called tech support after many failures trying to write to AutoCAD PDF, and they said it is not certified to do so, even though their advertisement indicates they can write any PDF. Useless.
Also, my Norton shows that it uses extreme amount of system memory intermittently, almost reaching 100 percent on a 16 gig machine without even trying it with Acad. Happens when it is not even being used.
Tech support seems to be located in Tasmania or something.
My opinion only--this stuff is not a substitute for Adobe Acrobat--not even close. This is second time I have tried it over 3 year period.
Cute Pdf Pro...
Thanks for the " Heads Up". Got an offer from them yesterday, guess I'll pass.
I use Nuance PDF Converter Pro 7.2 successfully with Carlson 2013 (Intellicad version).
PDF CREATOR
is free and works great - everything treats it as a printer.
PDF CREATOR
just a note..cutepdf has a free version and it sets up as a printer too, I use the paid version because I can create secure pdf files with it.
PDF CREATOR
I'll second this. Use it all the time to produce .PDF files from letter size up to Arch D sheets.
Frank,
I have been using it for years without trouble. I think we are on version 7.2. I started using it when Acrobat would not work with our cad system. It has a couple of nice features such as allowing you to append new pages into an existing file when you are creating from within another program. This works great when I'm adding an exhibit to a description.
On the down side, it has created some large files and occasionally does appear to use a lot of resources.
John
I use NitroPDF. It does a pretty good job for what I use it for. I think I paid around $120 for it.
I like Acrobat Pro, but I don't like paying full retail. What I've done for my last couple of computers is bought Acrobat Pro, but one version back from current. You can usually find genuine Adobe unopened retail packages of these for around $100 on eBay.
I use PDF995. Bothersome ads, but free. For $9.95, you can buy the shareware version and they will do away with the popup ads urging you to buy it.
The software acts as a virtual printer and allows you to store the pdf file. I use it on MS Word and my CAD software - no problems. Letter to Architectural D size sheets.
Starting with AutoCAD 2010 (I think), there is a "plot to pdf file" in the plot routines.
PDF CREATOR
I also recommend PDF Creator, I have been using it for years. You can merge multiple PDF's into one PDF document. It also lets you print to other formats such as TIFF, JPEG, BMP, PNG and others. There are regular updates and it is free.
