Yup.?ÿ It never happened.?ÿ The client DID NOT call to say, "Hey, my brother told me there is some three legged thing about five feet high out in the front yard of Mom's house where you were supposed to be surveying.?ÿ He says it has a weird electronic looking thingy sitting on top of it."

If he had called, he would have heard, "OMG!!!!"

Last job Friday.?ÿ Just setting there in anticipation of our return to put it to use again.

It is still there.?ÿ Verified a few minutes ago by a former co-worker who I had take a peek on his way to church.

I left a tripod on the sidewalk on Peachtree Street in Downtown Atlanta one time.?ÿ Believe it or not it was still there the next day.

I also left a two hundred foot chain between the rails on a railroad track overnight and it was still there the next day.

Left a GPS base sitting out in a field about an hours drive from the office one winter.?ÿ Drove back out to get it, and never was so glad to see it still there, the lights blinking!

Forgot a 12' carbon fiber rod, bipod & Leica 360 glass BS on the shoulder at an interstate exit.?ÿ Drove 10 mi. back to my office, realized it, went back a half hour later - gone.?ÿ No profit on that job.....

When I first started surveying in the late 90s, I was living in Northern Virginia.?ÿ We had a job one time retracing a city block in Washington D.C.?ÿ I had just finished setting up the gun and was in the process of shooting the backsight (tripod and prism) that the PC was walking away from when a big old Pontiac Catalina rolled up alongside it, two "gentlemen" jumped out and tossed the whole setup in the trunk, all before I could say "WTF?!".?ÿ After that, we never setup a backsight in the city again.?ÿ Lessons learned....
