PDOP are you out then? Brad you interested if PDOP is out? I have a flatbed on my truck, so tailgate isn't an issue, but I could see that maybe interfering. Get that front reciever and it would work! There is a 'guard' outside of the pole so that should protect the pole from minor collisions whether you mount it front or rear, it is that vertical piece with the conspicuity tape.

I have used the stake pocket on the top of the pickup bed rail in the past. Stick about a 1-1/2" OD pipe in it and insert a section of 4' rod extension inside of it. Sometimes need to do a little shimming of the pipe. Definitely not a 60mph solution.

Do a search for "a pillar light bracket". These are the style of brackets jeep guys use to mount lights above the hood. Buy one, and drill and tap it to fit a 5/8" bolt, and you are set.

Totally awesome, loving the huge gain in space and power from the inline-5 Colorado. However... the damned thing's all aluminum, and the door is shaped just differently enough to render our SECO GPS door mounts useless. That means no mag mounts, no door mounts, and no way to keep the GPS outside of the vehicle & maintain initialization when moving. Has anyone else run into this issue, and if so, what kind of solutions have you come up with? The first thing to come to my mind was some kind of suction cup QD mounts for the roof, but if anyone's invented them, I'm having a helluva time finding them.

Maybe this is my calling to switch careers and jump into an untouched accessory market for these newfangled aluminum work trucks.

It may not be a suitable solution for you, however, we have a retractable bed cover on our '15 F-150. We bolted a couple of steel plates to the plate covering the compartment the top retracts into. You could simply place mag mounts on the plates, or weld bolts (upright) to accept the male end of a quick attach setup, as we did.

No, thanks brother. I really just wanted to see the photos.

I just lay my gear flat on top of the box inside of the diamondback cover when I drive point to point. It usually re-initializes fairly quickly.

If you did that today (in Boynton) someone would try to steal it. 😉

Yeah, just don't think we could make it work. I'm leaning towards the A-pillar light mounts now, like summerprophet mentioned. I'm thinking we could make that work pretty well. I appreciate the offer & advice, though!

Looking at these now, I think that would work great! Keeps the unit in sight and close to the DC.

Seems like you could put a magnet on the backside (inside the cab) to hold the one on top.
