Borrowed the quote and photo below from Meta for an example of flood plain thinking.    Somewhere in Nebraska.  No connection to me.

"Wednesday was an Exciting day! We moved our 1910 farmhouse built by my Great-Grandpa Rathbun, down our lane to the east. Making sure it will never have floodwaters in the basement again.

My mother who will turn 100 years old this coming Thursday, and is the Granddaughter of that Rathbun, was able to watch the house move to its new location."

Well, I don’t see the basement attached, so I bet it still floods.

Thats pretty cool.  I did a survey for a guy who lived in an old house that his grandpa had pulled from the Ohio River during the 1937 flood as it came floating down.  It definitely had water in the basement.  Moved it just out of the floodplain and almost 90 years later, still going strong.
