Hello,
I am looking for a text that will help me understand a least squares adjustment on a boundary survey and project control. There are not many people around here that survey with a total stations, so I am more interested in learning the basics then how to apply them to a Network RTK survey.
Before I purchase Adjustment Computations, Sixth Edition, I wanted to find out if anyone has gone through this edition and how much of the book will go over LS with RTK.
Thanks,
Dan
Adjustment Computations is a great overall book for understanding Least Squares for all different types of surveying techniques. GPS/GNSS (network adjustment) is covered in one chapter only, I believe. You mention you want to look at LS with RTK. Adjusting Networks with static vectors or RTK derived vectors is not really much different. If you are talking about LS involved in processing RTK vectors (like determining ambiguities) - that is beyond the scope of the book.
I think a good intro would be to download a demo version of StarNet and then review the help/tutorials examples related to GPS/GNSS. They give a good basic understanding of what the general workflow is to adjusting a network.

I really don't know of any really good and comprehensive introductory level stuff for this subject. The Adjustment Computations book, which I have, certainly qualifies as comprehensive but may be a case a drinking from a fire hose at entry level.
The STAR*NET Reference Manual has some good stuff.
This chapter of the Trimnet User's manual from the last century was useful to me:
The following chapter from Elementary Surveying may be helpful:
