Does anyone have an idea how much data Network RTK link takes on the rover end. Just trying to make sure our new data plan will fit the bill.

Thanks in advance

John

John,
The GSM Cellular service providers AT&T and T-Mobile offer the following Data/SMS plans,

5GB per month for $50
3GB per month for $30

Both carriers also provide a "Pay as you Go" data plan, you purchase the GSM SIM card for cheap, maybe $10. You provide them with a credit card linked to the cellular telephone number/GSM SIM card. I typically put $50 balance on my T-Mobile GSM card >> it's $2 a day, (24-hour period), T-Mobile only deducts the $2 day fee when the SIM card is active on the T-Mobile network. Me thinks the credit balance stays active for like 90-days. When you need more time, simply call T-Mobile, request they add another $25, $50 balance to the SIM card. Works pretty well.

Query your GNSS receiver's internal GSM modem for the $GSM,IMEI information, bring the $GSM,IMEI reply with you to AT&T and/or T-Mobile. The Customer Service Rep at the Cellular phone store can enter the $GSM,IMEI details into their computer, they'll know excactly what type of GSM modem is embedded in your device >> what type of Data plan you'll need. Takes all the guess work out of this...

We have multiple dozers and rovers setup with a telemetry plan (Verizon), around $7/month/unit. The data stream for network corrections is small. Do not use it for anything else, i.e. internet browsing, laptop connections to internet, then your data stream is huge. There's no need to get a huge data plan for gps network corrections only.

For CMR+ with 14 SV's...

1 minute = 18.6 KB
1 hour = 1.11MB
8 hours = 8.93MB

5 GB (typical plan amount) = 27/7 for 30 days.
