This is about as screwed up a description as it can get but I am really puzzled by the original lien on top the hill.
?ÿ
EDIT: This an adjoiners deed.
Line with the last two letters transposed.?ÿ
Some old structure??ÿ Possibly lean-to?
?ÿ
But ya, that is probably a fantastic description and perfectly fits, as long as you know where it is.
Was supposed to be "lion".?ÿ Let us know what variety of wildlife you encounter.
At the time that description was written, I'd guess the grantor (mentioned at the end) had more than one piece of property.
The call for the original lien could have been referencing a piece of land that the grantor had a mortgage on....or something like that. Drawing a clear separation between that piece of land and the piece you are asking questions about.
?ÿ
To me, it doesn't sound like a hopeless description. You've got a fence, a graveyard, and roads. Theoretically, the well should be somewhere inside the shape you make! Good luck.?ÿ
"lien" is just "line" misspelled
Public well?
I agree with others it refers to the old line (old fence row) at the top of the hill.?ÿ But I don't think it's a mis-spelling.?ÿ I think it was common for people to refer to their land holdings as "liens".
I love these...search all the adjoining deeds...diligently search for monuments...then set lasting witness posts!
Any time I come across ambiguity, I make sure the next Surveyor finds my footprints.
