I am addicted to old surveying textbooks. You guys started talking about first addition Boundary Control and Legal Principles and Evidence and Procedures for Boundary Location.
I got on a hunt for them, and was able to add both first editions to my library. I picked up both books for under $35 dollars for both books. EPBL is possibly a first edition, first printing. The page with the copyright information does not mention any printing or edition. BC&LP is a first edition, second printing. Both books are in very good shape.
Nice score!
Shame on you. The first step in overcoming your addiction is admitting that you have a problem. The next step of the recovery process involves a shift from awareness to action. Send the books to me and I will secure them properly by keeping them so there's no more temptation on your part and no more fuel for your disease....:)
Now you have to change your name to Boyd.

Yea, I am afraid to try to remove that label for fear of damaging the cover. That book was once the property of the Ventura County public works department.
I'm pretty excited. I have picked up numerous books since November with some Christmas money. I have amassed a pretty decent collection of survey texts over my career. I still need to take an hour or so to make a spreadsheet with all of my books.
I have the green one. It is a first edition (1957). A surveyor's son gave it to me. I keep it alongside my fourth edition now called "Brown's Boundary Control and Legal Principals". Congratulations on your find.
Perhaps a librarian can help you find a solution to the old name tag.

That's cool. According to the discussions on this forum, I thought that 1962 was the first edition. That is really cool you have a 1957 edition. That is a really good find!

I'm a bit miffed. I mean, I did not think that this kind of thing would be allowed on this forum!!
(Grin, congratulations, buddy!)

You don't want to know how many history books I own. There may be 200. I don't know. I've got 4 more coming in the mail.

Nice scores. Might try a heat gun from a few feet back, from what I can remember from the 80's those adhesive backed labels were pretty weak.
