I think so many confuse the Minimum Technical Standards with Retracements.

I can follow in the footsteps and retrace a survey , based on the deed and other evidence and honor a point that does not meet the minimum technical standards of today. What I have to do is report my findings based on the minimum technical standards. I report honestly my results.

That is my distances and bearings but that does not mean that I do not have to honor a point that I find that does not fit precisely with the deed in hand.

That is not the intent of the MTS in the states. The MTS is to raise the standards of report, and likely of new surveys, but it does not negate the prior deeds that 'hit the ground'... Thank you O'Roly.

We don't have MTS in California.

I do the same, accurately report the actual size and shape of the property. We are the reality profession; we report the reality, messy as it might be.
