There's nothing like frozen cow snot that says "Kansas".... 😉
ps -Hope all your calves make it through the next few days.?ÿ This is one for record books.
Weather finally broke today. -2F this morning, field work is back on, it feels like shorts and tee shirt weather. I went to the gym and only needed a hoodie and shorts for the ride.?ÿ
It was -6 at five this morning here.?ÿ I'm one heck of lot further south than you, too.?ÿ Our high for the day is supposed to be zero with an overnight low of -8.?ÿ Then up to 15 on Tuesday but dropping to -12 overnight.?ÿ I think the weatherman is hitting the sauce.?ÿ Might hit 31 on Friday, he says.
@rj-schneider No, just irons and 1/2"-3/4" pipes.?ÿ Yeah, I'm going to invest in a battery rotary drill. No more pounding dirt.?ÿ Hopefully I'm back to normal by Spring.
It was predicted to break Saturday evening here. That didn't happen it was about 24 hours late.
So if you experience the same thing push back all the forecasts back about a day.?ÿ
Puyallup got a foot of snow over the weekend; today it's going to be 46f and raining...
?ÿ
It's 8 below in Omaha today!
The daughter located between KC and St. Joe reported a bit ago their wind chill is at -26.
Oh, now, this is fantastic.?ÿ There are announcements going out over a wide region that we may have our electricity shut off for 30 minutes to an hour at a time because industrial wind turbines are now supplying a large enough fraction of our total to mess us up as they are stopped/frozen.
Here in the older 'hood in Norman we're used to brief power outages.?ÿ They last from 15 minutes to a couple of hours.?ÿ I've never heard anybody give a good explanation except the infrastructure 100 years old.?ÿ Given that I'm not too worried out the "rolling blackouts" they're warning us about on the TV right now.
WHAT DOES CONCERN ME is that they're reporting the natural gas distribution system is under a heavy load and interruption in service is a possibility.?ÿ I heat my house with gas.?ÿ If I lose power and then gas I'm screwed.

I always wondered if Norman made it out of the icebox. I had assumed so since there was no mention of incarceration of those who purportedly caused the demise of our dear friend by means of forced hypothermia in the local "Pennypincher" newspaper". That's good news! (at least for you) ?????ÿ
Depends on the zone you're in. Zone 3 where I live it's 8'. People still have problems if the waterline crosses a driveway where the snow gets removed. Keep a tap running if you're concerned it might freeze.?ÿ
@flga-2-2
It's just colder than a well digger's lunch around here...a lot colder.?ÿ 4 or 5 below last night.?ÿ Sunny today but windy and it only got up to 2 above.?ÿ Predicting 10 below tonight with wind chills of 30 below.?ÿ
I take my dogs out for about 5 minutes at a whack and their dainty little feetsies start freezing.?ÿ That's rough on the one that takes 6 minutes to figure out where she wants to poop.?ÿ And BTW...I've been watching them.?ÿ None of them point north when they go.?ÿ They just point whatever direction they were headed when the urge hit them.
Color me "waiting for the thaw".
PS - Dang that computer in my new Jeep.?ÿ At -5 it tells me all my tires only have 26 lbs. of air.?ÿ All sorts of bells and whistles going off.?ÿ At 2 above it tells me all my tires have 28 lbs. of air, but the alarm keeps going off.?ÿ I can't wait for it to warm up...even just a little.

@holy-cow central Minnesota typical is 7.5 feet. Usually stake at 8ft depth to be safe. I believe up north it??s even deeper.
I hate to keep on about our weather but it was 82 here today, but we have a front moving through later this evening which is supposed to be nasty. After that we are going to get what you have now and I'm just delirious with joy. It's plunging into the 60's for a high next week. Firewood is already all sold out.
Cars - These computer controlled cars are more of a pain in the ass to figure out than when Gates forced us off dos and we had to learn that goddamn windows 3.0-3.1-3.1.0 etc (I'm stuck on Chapter 9 in Windows 3.0 for Idiots). And between Siri, Alexa, and Hey Google you can't say a damn word in the car or else you'll get directions to Toadsuck AK or some such place. Or the weather report for Puerto Rico. It's pure hell on earth with no light at the end of the tunnel for a 70 year old. But I love it! ?????ÿ
note: I said a bad word which was edited out so don't y'all expect any apologies from me.
