Well, I just found out that Tennessee refuses to accept a 4 hour course on Illinois standards.
That just ain't right.
Why should it? Illinois standards have nothing to do with TN?
Drink another cup of coffee David, your sarcasm detector hasn't activated yet.
I think, you have it, Dave
If they give credit for a course on Tenesee standards, then they should give credit for a course on Illinois standards. Nothing says that continuing education is limited to what happens in your state. Standards are standards and the familiarity with them is educational to the surveyor's "continuing" education.

Tennessee standards seen arriving from Illinois in early 1866
I've never had a cup of coffee in my life!
And BTW - this is not unique. There are several other states that will not accept another's Minimum Standards workshops. The point of a Minimum Standards workshop (in most cases) is to address state specific issues.
Why does each state's standards differ from every other state?
Maybe because each state has differnt laws?
By the way, Tennessee doesn't yet, and hopefully never will, God willing, require this tomfoolery of having us professionals sit in a room and being read the state standards text like we are in elementary school.
