Has anyone submitted metadata? If so, how or what have you used?
we don't belive in metadada.
We trust our data collector, and everything inside it!

You are going to have to define your terms a little!!!!
Most folks that I know return at least SOME "metadata" on every survey (some more than others).
🙂

Vertical datum, horizontal datum, zone, scale factors, coordinate basis, that kind of thing.
:coffee:
here's what i find useful. just kidding
double underwear-toe hold and an arm bar is our normal proceedure- has that metadata tapping out in no time....:-)
You must be a spatial person to handle metadata. 😉
LOL! I have to agree with most of those comments. We keeps meta-data!
I know what information they want. My biggest is question is how to submit it or give it to them. Is there a form, online submittable. I even asked they organization that wants it and they told me to talk to my client. I have and they really don't know either. LOL. What a joke! You ask for the information, but don't know how they want to receive it.

Geospatial Metadata
What are Metadata?
A metadata record is a file of information, usually presented as an XML document, which captures the basic characteristics of a data or information resource. It represents the who, what, when, where, why and how of the resource. Geospatial metadata commonly document geographic digital data such as Geographic Information System (GIS) files, geospatial databases, and earth imagery but can also be used to document geospatial resources including data catalogs, mapping applications, data models and related websites. Metadata records include core library catalog elements such as Title, Abstract, and Publication Data; geographic elements such as Geographic Extent and Projection Information; and database elements such as Attribute Label Definitions and Attribute Domain Values.
The FGDC is tasked by Executive Orders to develop procedures and assist in the implementation of a distributed discovery mechanism for national digital geospatial data. Geospatial metadata are critical to data discovery and serves as the fuel for both the Geospatial One-Stop data portal and the NSDI Clearinghouse.
The current Federal standard for geospatial data is the Content Standard for Digital Geospatial Metadata. However, efforts are underway to finalize a new national (ANSI) standard - The North American Profile (NAP) of the ISO 19115: Geographic Information – Metadata. NSDI Stakeholders are encouraged to monitor this site for information about NAP implementation and resources.

Thanks Dan. I'll investigate the site. My biggest gripe is if you are going to ask for the information, then you need a procedure or an example of how the data needs to be giving. I have the data and all the information behind it and know what they are asking for, but there isn't a standard setup yet. Anyway... I will get it to them. Thanks.

I don't think there is a standard form because of the type of meta data you may use. Did you constrain only horizontal, only vertical, calibrate, tie to points in the ground, tie to CORS, etc.
That and you haven't said WHO you're submitting it to. You may confuse them.
Most of the time, I provide statements like this in my description and on the plat.
Bearings are based on the Texas Coordinate System of 1983 per GPS observations. All coordinates are U.S. Survey Feet, NAD 83 (CORS96) Epoch 2002.0 per static GPS data gathered on someday and processed via OPUS through the NGS website. All distances are grid. To get surface distances, divide by CSF. To get geodetic bearings, rotate clockwise some convergence which is at the Northeast corner of this tract.
It says what, how, where, and when. The who is obviously by the one signing it. Past that, I don't think that you should worry about a form, just that the data you provide is complete.
