Tilley hat

Wonder of wonders, the biggest “score” of a present I got this year for Maureen is the Tilley Hat (thanks to this survey forum… I’d never heard of them before reading the high praise about Tilleys from surveyors across the globe). She wanted a good, full brimmed hat for kayaking, hiking and the like. I’d looked at some of those floppy nylon numbers:

but couldn’t imagine her getting excited about a hat that looks and performs like a plastic garbage sack. Then I remembered all the conversations here about Tilley hats.

This moves her soul:

Thanks beer leg… (granted, the early conversations about Tilleys were on old school RPLS.com, but what with beer leg being the natural heir of rpls, it gets all the credit for it now, or at least the surveyors here who posted about good hats).

Merry Christmas.

That pot bellied fella with the pick axe, must be the cook.

I don't imagine you could get a beer belly like that on a field crew in those days?

Radar, thanks for that song.

I had it downloaded to my iTunes before the video was over.
