I found a 1/2 inch reinforcing bar with an aluminum cap stamped MEPSI in Reeves County, Texas and I'm pretty sure I've seen them before in Glasscock.

My best guess is that they were set by Mobil Exploration & Producing Services Inc. and I'm thinking they have something to do with Seismic mapping. They always seem to fall near a section corner but I'm pretty sure they were not set by a registered surveyor.

Anyone have any further insight on these critters?

The field crew finally sent a picture. I'm a little mad that I didn't get it before I started analyzing the boundary. But, thankfully, I didn't hold it. I'll post the pic tomorrow. Seems like the lower the price of oil gets, the busier I get. And for some reason it seems like all of my projects fall in the middle of a vacancy or a boundary dispute. Oh well. ... Looking forward to my 4 day weekend at the end of March. Maybe going to go to the TSPS high Plains Experience in late April.
