So a survey is completed and all the necessary monuments are located to produce a plat.

But a map checker wants corners shown and tied that have no bearing on the survey.

I have no access to these corners and the landowners will sue for trespass if I go on their land and have every right to.

They (landowners) are not happy at this point. Sigh!!:-(

Ask him for the phone number of his BOR and let him know that you are contacting yours if he is attempting to practice surveying without a license.

If licensed, require that the request be in writing with a sealed signature.

A shame there is no going overboard insurance.

I think I have a work around, maybe :pissed:

Are these corners referred to in the deed, such as a section corner that is not part of the property? There could be a good reason for them to be shown.

Is there a surveyor's right of entry law in your unknown (to us) state?

No, they have no bearing on the survey, and no right of entry, maybe I could force my way, but there is no good reason to. Anyway, I think I found a work around, it's good to have friends;-)

That's a train load of horse droppings! As you have told us, they have no bearing on the survey you have performed. Therefore, there is no statute for you to follow that explains why you would be expected to show these. The "map checker" needs to be reined in pronto.

True, but........ they're Feds!

I feel the pain, I have to deal with Federal BS just trying to run a water and sewer service to a house on "Indian Land", for the owner of the land!!

Corners shown and tied per office records and calculations, not field verified.

:snarky:

It's going to be better than that, but I hear ya!

I actually tied a few of them in a survey a few years ago, and since both are CORS and the control points are checking so well they are solid, the others I can got from another surveyor, some info trading and done! Also I'm not showing them to all that tight of a precision. After all, they have nothing to do with my survey. Oh well:-(

He's just trying to fill in some blank areas in his GIS database. Since you're project is so close, you might as well do him the favor and tie his darn corners. Geez. Where's your sense of civic duty and volunteerism?
