In the configuration of the stakeout app there is a box to check that when checked angles and stakeout values are to be updated only after a distance is measured. Then all values are frozen until the next distance is taken. I'm quoting this right from the Leica tech. ref manual. Recently we have been doing some building layout. Our normal routine is to stakeout the calced pts and meas. the dist. using f2 the dist. button until you've met your preferred tolerance. Then page to the code screen enter your desc. code and then hit f3 the store button. Always worked fine and once downloaded the check pts (our stored pts) came in right where they should be.
Until about 2 weeks ago....
I had a couple of pts downloaded to a dwg. and they were way out of the park wrong location, but the dist from the occupied station correct. After doing some testing I've come to the conclusion that this is occurring because after the final dist is measured if the angle of the inst. (TS15i) is turned as soon as and only after I enter a code the stakeout values are updated with the current angle of the inst. However if you enter the code prior to taking any dist. measurements once you are happy with your stakeout results you can turn the inst. any which way and store the point it will hold the last stakeout values as it should.
Here is where things get really strange. Im thinking this is a weird bug because I can not re-create this when using the data collecter (cs15) it doesn't seem to mater what order or how I do things it only updates the stakeout values when a dist. is measured, as it should. Both have the same software version (5.0.3796)
I am probably going to contact Leica about this but just wondering if anyone here has had this problem and also as a warning to other users of Viva software.
I usually go from staking screen through shortcut to survey screen and store point from there.
I have TS15 as well.
I was told by Leica tech support that even the operating system and software on CS15 and TS15 is the same they are not working the same way.
This answer I got when I couldn't import the working style I created on CS15 to TS15 (they called it apple and orange??), so don't be surprise.
I am actually wondering how many folks utilize TS15 without CS15 and whether it worth when two man crew using the equipment.
