My $0.02 says this will likely revolve around Locata.
If the cost is reasonable, this would be a game changer, you could use a "satellite receiver" to go just about anywhere.
I can't afford the $1000 right now, so probably can't afford the product either, but will be interested to see what it is.

My bet is that they might have awakened to understand that a TPS robotic total station with a very small scanner inside would absolutely kick tail. I bet that is going to happen in the near future if not within few months. Topcon IS started getting close, but Leica is too quick to sit around and wait on this. Trimble got Faro, and Leica had to move. I'd bet this is what they are going to release soon, if not sooner.
Don't know. don't care.
Their ad company has been putting out some poor material the last year or two.
Yesterday, I pick up a UPS envelope out of my PO Box. Looks like some promotional material for UPS by the envelope, but couldn't quite tell if it might be something important. So I open it up and find a cryptic short letter that tells me absolutely nothing, and two post cards with fuzzy images and the words "Leica" on one card and "Geosystems" on the other. No other info.
So it gave just enough info so that I could tell which company was stupid enough to waste the paper, ink, postage, and time to produce an ad that tells me absolutely nothing - not why I should want their product, or even what the product is.
Stupid!!
Last year, they had that ad campaign that was full of communist revolution symbolism. Yeah, I get it, your product is "revolutionary". The symbolism was offensive - reminiscent of the many communist revolts marked by random violence against government and non-combatant alike and often culminating in a socialist dictatorship that was oppressive to its citizens and deadly hostile to its internal political rivals. Didn't give me that "gotta have it" feeling.
I'm not paying $400 for a sales pitch ( plus hotel, etc).
The email I got offered 60% off the conference registration plus transportation.
They are covering their bases.
First I received a letter with an invitation for HARRISA, today I received a second invitation for AHARRIS.
Darn, them 3rd party mailing lists never go away.
IMVHO, the best thing they could come out with is a controller that will work flawlessly with every known piece of electronic surveying equipment and software on the market.
😀
I think all the DC manufacturer engineers should have to use their clunky interface with low contrast colors and unnecessary keystrokes in 106f while a Marine Gunnery Sergeant yells at them for 8 hours straight.
It is a mobil lidar. It will sort of combine the technology of lidar and scanning into one piece of equipment.
So you're saying that Kent's segway thread made the perfect segue....
Actually I am thinking Nate's thread made for a better segue, because I think I know what it is.
It's a total station that you can zero the gun in one button-push, you can switch from angle-right to angle-left and you can toggle from feet to meters in one button push. On top of that the software and firmware are going to be simple and intuitive to use from the onset. They will provide quick and immediate support, and they will not charge a maintenance fee for the software. They are just that confident in it and they will provide any software/firmware upgrades at no extra charge as well as include a long-term warranty at no extra charge to the cost. The machine will be sold at a competitive price and the entrance fee will be applied to your purchase if you should decide to buy it. They are so confident, that they will return the entrance fee if you don't buy plus 10%.
edit: p.s.: they will listen and write down any customer's comments and/or criticisms and go to work immediately to improve the product accordingly.
You reckon that's it?
Actually they finally fixed that inverted image thing they were into for so long 🙂
It's Lidar, RTK, Scanner & and a total station mounted on a Segway.
