That "Orient and Height Transfer" option for setup always puzzles me. I get through it and wind up with Setup wanting to store a new point number for the occupation.

Likewise, I have yet to brave the "figure out later where we were now" option for setup points. It does seem tantalizingly useful. Any advice on how that works?

I'll send you a resume as soon as I find my crayons. Long commute, though.

hello half bubble,

yes the orient and height transfer option will want you to create a new height for a station of you choose to invoke the 'ori, ht' option instead of just 'ori'. i rarely use it for transferring heights. there seems to be no way around it once it asks you to rename the station. just give it a prefix or suffix i.e. 200=200B or 200ht and keep going.

orientate & height transfer is the most useful backsight option on the 1200 & viva as it allows you to truly set a backsight that is an average of a FL/FR reading. set azimuth or set backsight pretend to do two faces, and motor around to the second face, but are not truly setting an average backsight.
