A few days ago there was a discussion about the image assistance on surveying instruments. Leica was mentioned and quite a few questions followed. I do not have that kind of Leica Robot. But have seen a short little description video that will probably answer a bunch of questions about the capabilities of image assistance on Leica instruments. It shows how Leica handles the difference between the camera position and the image through the telescope lens. Here is the internet address of that short video.
Give it a try and see if it clears up any questions about that feature.

Leica sure does have some nice bells and whistles. I wonder if that same option is availabable on the Carlson version of these robots?
The imagining options are only available on the latest models. These are the Leica TS11I and TS15I models of the Leica Viva line of instruments. The imaging option cannot be available on the the older Leica instruments because their is no way to integrate the camera. Leica had to make major design changes to integrate cameras in the new models. The Leica total stations that Carlson has re-branded are the TPS1200 models which were replaced by the Viva line of instruments.
With the TPS1200 instruments you still have imaging on the dat collector if you are using the Leica Viva CS15 or CS10 data collectors. The new data collectors will work with all of the older Leica TPS instruments. The controller has a 2 megapixel camera available and will store images and connect them in the job database to specific point(s) or you can just take a picture and store it. You can also draw on the image taken, take screen shots of the data collector screen or just have a blank "sheet of paper" as an image so you can take notes or make drawings on the screen. All of these options can also be attached to point(s) in the job database.
Nice video, thanks for posting.

Good question
