Looking for a good source of of topo and aerial data. I used to have Topo Quads from DeLorme, but need to upgrade it or try something else. I'd like to tie it into a hand held GPS down the road.

Any ideas - thanks

Frank Willis presented at the ISPLS convention last week, a course titled "Surprising Technology at a Reasonable Cost" wherein he highly recommended [REDACTED].
I havent't tried it myself, but plan on at least a demo.

Terrain Navigator Pro...if you have their stand alone, you also can download a free app for your smart phone and record data in the field with the built in GPS and then upload it to your pc later.

I'll 2nd the [REDACTED] endorsement, it's my favorite software- relatively inexpensive and very powerful. Excellent and fast support, too

Oziexplorer is good Windows mobile GPS software.

I loaded all the quad sheets for NY from Utica west to Lake Erie & from Lake Ontario to the PA border, output them all as one VERY GIANT geotiff, converted that to oziexplorer format, loaded it onto an sd card, and now I can watch myself drive down the road on a conitinuous quad sheet, using my Ipaq and a $75 bluetooth GPS receiver.

Good luck,

SS

I like Back Country Navigator for my smartphone- $10 for the Pro version.

You can download airphotos or USGS Quads or NOAA RNC or others in real time.

Pretty slick. I've found section corners with the USGS topos under canopy.
