Having issues with long range bluetooth connectivity.?ÿ Running MS50 from CS20/Captivate.?ÿ Had the same issues with CS15 on Viva.?ÿ Often have trouble getting further than 500 feet even with direct intervisibility where I can see the MS50.?ÿ Leica specs the range to be 1000 meters!?ÿ When I get behind the lightest of foliage or stand between the controller and MS50 the connection immediately cuts out.?ÿ When I drive to a next point and lose connection sometimes the controller will refuse to reconnect even after running through the TS reconnect routine.?ÿ If I can't get reconnection I have to drive back to the instrument and power down and restart the instrument and controller to regain connection.?ÿ Obviously this is frustrating and very inefficient.?ÿ My question is whether any other MS50 users are having this problem and whether it was resolved.
Depending on site conditions I can get around 300 meters from the instrument with my MS50/CS20 setup.?ÿ I think the CS is the weak link here.?ÿ Leica does offer an extended range radio for the CS20 which may put you out to the 1000 meter mark.?ÿ I usually do not have a problem reconnecting to the MS50.?ÿ That being said, last week I had the communications cut when a fire engine went by.?ÿ Not once but twice.?ÿ I lost the the connection hard.?ÿ Had to restart both the CS20 & the MS50 and then run the connection routine including the search.?ÿ The instrument was set at an intersection and I'm guessing when the engine changed the lights it interfered with my BT.
I have noticed that some times if you loose connection when you try to reset it the CS is set to cable.
