HI,

Was searching around the net and came across this site, so with fingers crossed I thought I'd ask for what I cannot seem to find.

Our Company has inherited a whole slew of Leica 1200 series total stations and this is also the preferred device in use by the majority of our contractors.

Our main Contractor also uses Trimble GPS coupled with Trimble Business Center. We have recently bought a copy to QC their processing. As much as I like the software I am unable to import land survey data from the Leica. However I suspect that XML could be the way forward. Does anyone know a work around or the correct way forward?

your trimble receivers should be easy. convert the gnss data to rinex, then import. as far as edm work, see if that can be translated into some other common format, like TDS, then import. you might want to acquire LGO for processing the 1200 data.

OR convert the leica data from dbx to rinex, then import to tbc. the 1200 dbx, from the edm to tbc, i am uncertain. try loyal or shelby, to start

Thanks for the response. We do not have any problems with GNSS data conversions.

It appears that Trimble Survey Manager V2.61 has a data converter built in to it, I was wondering if there were any other software products or methods around.

Leica has a free on-board application and also a free PC application that will convert the native Leica DBX to a FBK, RAW. or RW5 file. These applications can also isolate exported data by the application that was used. For example, if you have topo data, stakeout data and traverse data all in one DBX (field data) you could select only to export the topo data and the traverse or any other combination. You could also export everything in the DB if you wish.

The PC based application can be downloaded from the Leica myWorld site or I can arrange to get it to you through DropBox. The version of the instrument based application needs to be loaded in the same version of the main firmware you have on your Leica TPS. It is a small file and I can email it to you. I would need to know a few details.

You can email me or call me and I will set it up for you if needed.

Oh... The name of the PC based application is Leica Xchange and the instrument based application is called Field Data Extractor. These should also be on any firmware DVD that you received with your instrument. Probably better to just let me know what version you have on your instruments.

The Instrument based application works with TPS or GNSS instruments.

Hi surveythemark. I know this is an old post but can you give me more information on this "...free PC application..." Leica provides? I am looking for a similar solution to the original poster.

To further explain my inquire, I primarily use Trimble Business Center for post processing, and at my firm we largely use Trimble proprietary products. However, we do have some Leica equipment, and have collaborations with firms that exclusively use Leica. I personally have a lot of field experience with using Leica instruments, but not much post processing field data generated from Leica terrestrial or GPS instruments.

Perhaps I should have started a new post for this inquire, but I found this one and thought it wouldn't hurt to dredge it up.

Thank you.

I don't think that Mark is able to post here any longer, but I would suggest that you try the Leica myWorld site that he suggests up above; Leica should have tools for exporting various formats that TBC can accept. My first choice would be XML, if possible.
