Does anyone know how to test them to see if they have a problem? Does anyone have any for sale?

Thanks

FWIW, I don't know anything about GFU 19 modems, but I use these with good results for my Leica 1105- $600/2:

looks like the GFU19 is CDMA and the GFU17 is GMRS ...

so, maybe won't work with the same cell service?

The Leica GFU19 modem is CDMA, In the USA, the cellular service provider would be Verizon Wireless. You should be able to select this communication device from the Leica data controller, use the default modem Initialization string. Query the modem for it's IP Addres. If the modem returns 000.000.00.000, the CDMA modem + VZW cellular service is not active. If the modem returns a IP Address, the VZW service is active. Browse, search the Leica Tech Support page, look for the GFU19 Quick Guide, this will help you setup and use the GFU19 modem.

FLS,

I should still have some documentation on the GFU19 (Verizon CDMA Modem). I will see what I still have when I get back to the office opn Monday. I can eamil you what I have once I locate the documents. As BbB said about using the commands for the IP address... there are some that can be used to see the status of certain actions on the modem. I just cannot remember what they are without the documents.
