Does anyone use the Leica Smartstation? Pros or cons? Any advantage over a a robot and separate RTK setup?

Thanks

we do use one, but not in an rtk setup. i know, it sort of defeats the purpose of its invention. still ok for static.

go back to edm, changing the setup is like playing with legos.

Best setup evvvvaaaarrrr!

Kinda useless for RTK but the cat's meow for static + free stations + trig levels.

You can collect static while you collect points with robotics. It will not "track" your every movement while the GPS antenna is mounted, but with powersearch/ATR that does not matter, just get on your point and have it find the prism. Uses less battery than tracking because the motors only run for the few seconds the instrument is turning to the prism rather than just burning battery with constant movement.

We love it. Happy to answer any questions, here or via email.

I used one about thre or four years ago.

It is pretty good, and si very useful. I did not use it as much as I could have, but it was nice when I did.

I don't remember all the ins and outs, but it was good for collecting static while running robotic.

How easily does can you switch between RTK and conventional TS?

I guess I should of asked about the Smartpole also. I really am thinking about it's use in construction stakeout, topographies etc. Is it easy to establish control using RTK and then either stake out or topo with a combination of TS and RTK?

Thanks
The Hack
