Survey a subdivision and get a Lot! What could be better than that.

That's how my dad got his lot where his house is. Of course that was over 30 years ago.

You would need 3 times the lots here in So Cal the way values have dropped around here.

I just did a survey for a pile of hardwood lumber, oak, curly maple, mahogany, walnut, all kiln dried and planed.

I did a survey for a pile of firewood, for my buddies son. Long story, but his neighbor was being a dick. Glad I could help out:-)

I find that Doctors, Attorneys and Dentists love to barter for services. I got my youngest son's braces for what would have been about a 4k survey. The dentist thought it was the best deal ever. Keeps the IRS out of your pocket.

It is a fact that barter "keeps the IRS out of your pocket" only in that it makes it easier to file a false return. Barter income is completely taxable under the law.

In 1985 I accepted a lot (in the 20+- lot subdivision I had just surveyed), a new gun (20ga Citori) and some cash in payment for the subdivision work. The lot is for sale right now for about 6x the '1985 deal' value, the gun I still have, but the cash... long gone. No chickens... 🙂
