He'll have it "all figured out" when he figures out how to get Lightsquared to pay for installing Javad filters on my Trimble and Ashtech receivers.

Yeah seriously. Also, how does Javad propose to upgrade other manufacturers receivers to receive Glonass or other GPS civil signals. Plain and simple, this is impossible.

Call them up and speak to the technicial staff and ask them to explain the "impossible".

Then report back to those that do not have high precision GPS that are still interested.

I think I will set up a special gmail account and use it to enquire about getting my 23 year old Ashtech LXII GPS Units upgraded to L1C L2C and L5C, along with LightSquared compatability.:-) 😉

Javad sold out ... we should be showing a unified front against LightSquared. Love that Javad is conspiring with Lightsquared to disable your current gear, then offering to "fix" your old recievers for $800 each ...

It is all moot until LS actually puts the stations in use. Javad has some time to figure out the specs. For now it sounds good and who knows, it may sell a couple of receivers for him.

How much is a Javad unit? Can you run it with a Carlson or TDS data collector?

Kind of my thought. Sure am glad I went robotic years ago, long before I went GPS.

Now whats next, robots will need a filter to not interfere with terrestrial broadband.... as the circle jerk continues

He probably did sell out! It is a dog eat dog world out there! Why do you think Trimble buys all there competition, such as Geodometer, TDS, Pacific crest...? And builds in pretimed bombs to go off in their hardware and software? So they can have more control of the market. I think Javad has out foxed them this time! This whole thing is about money, and we are just lucky we have the military on our side for the time being! Jp

Figured out?
He even says his solution takes into consideration constallation upgrades. L1C, L2C and L5 are still many years away from completion. So will his solution work until then? I would caution against gettig too excited about magic bullets regardless of who they come from. He and LS outfoxed no one; perhaps only we poor end users that will have to foot the bill for their completly unrpoven solution that may not work for many years.

Has anyone purchased the Triumph VS system. I looked at that for the first time and thought it was an interesting concept.

Wow...conspiracy theories abound. Sounds plausible, Javad teaming w/ Lightsquared to give us a screwing.
Seriously, none of us want Lightsquared to infringe on "our" frequency, but it looks like they might anyway...so I'm just glad this super-smart dude (Javad Ashjaee) figured out a solution...it didn't occur to me to be pissed about it.

You guys can use your robots...I'll pay the $300 and keep surveying with RTK.

I'm going to ask Michael Glutting to let me rent one...It does seem cool...though I have a hunch their software sucks...and storing a shot with a high rod will be a thing of the past...still it will have its uses. These guys are innovators...that's for sure

Would not be so eager to just cave in and start agreeing to pay up. This is bigger than just surveying and $300. We only have to pay if the plan goes through, and ho0w about making LS pay for our upgrades if it does?
You want to pay to make their plan a success when we did nothing to bring it on?
Kinda like someone saying that we should eat more spinach because it is good for us, forcing us to buy a can, and when we say it tastes like s**t telling us that yes, it does contain s**t and now we have to buy a toothbrush from them.

Thanks for painting me a picture there Farsites.
Just to be clear, I'm as against Lightsquared screwing with our GPS as anyone on this board. Like many here, I make my living using (many) RTK rovers everyday. These rovers not working properly would be catastrophic.
I hope the Lightsquared plan does not go through. But if it does, I'm glad someone is coming up with a solution.
