Here in OZ we use the LEICA ATA flash card or PC card (Art Nr 667745)
However the modern laptops no longer include that size card reader ....
Am looking for a USB attached card reader and wonder if any of you know if this link will read a card?

That's a lot of money to spend just to read a PC card. I suggest instead that you buy a CF card (about $13 on eBay) and a CF-to-PC adapter (about $8 on eBay) and use that in your 1100. (You may need a CF-to-USB adapter if your laptop won't accept a CF card directly, but they're also inexpensive, about $5 on eBay). That's the arrangement I use in my DNA03.
I agree. We use CF card readers purchased on eBay for very little $:good:
I have a quandary with Leica 1100....>SAy Cuz
This is what I use, and have for the past ten years or so... CDW, That's Computer Discount Warehouse.
I also have, as Jim suggests, a computer flash card and adaptor that works when necessary. I hold on to that with the gun incase I forget the usual card.
I have been using this reader for almost 5 years and it works great: http://www.amazon.com/Addonics-Pocket-Flashcard-Reader-Support/dp/B005TPUH40
RADU,
Jim has the best solution. You can use a CF card and a the CF card adapter that is in the form of a PMCCIA card. Please note:
!!!! You can only use a 32 Mb or smaller size CF card !!!!!!!
Leica still sales all of these and still sells a 32 Mb CF card because that is also the largest size accepted by the OS in the DNA level. However, the Leica branded components will be higher priced. The critical components for the specification of the CF card are:
1. Get the CF card with the highest read/write speed available.
2. Make sure the operating temperature specifications of the CF card will match your survey environment
3. Again, 32 Mb or smaller size on the CF card
I would get away from the SRAM cards even though readers are still available. You cannot find SRAM cards but you can find CF cards (maybe 32 Mb is a little hard to find) and CF card readers everywhere.
Gentlemen you have all been lifesavers. Will act on the info.
Also as consequence managed to catch up with a sandgroper, Eric Horlin from Western Australia, ( also a friend of POBer and survey Connect, the late Graham Marion )who have not seen for a decade.

hello RADU,
just posting to let you know we are another (former) user of 1100's. always used CF cards in a PCMCIA card adapters. bought adapters from camera stores and ebay too. in thousands of downloads i only ever saw or heard of 3 data loss events if memory serves me correctly. cannot rule out user error (was always other people) but 1 was 3rd party CF card and 2 were Leica branded CF cards. so for all their bang-on about how reliable their cards were i saw no more data security over the other brands.
The instruments that use the TPS1000 OS cannot use a CF card you have to use the old PC Cards. The next generation of instruments that use a newer OS can use the CF cards.
Leica sells the OMNIDRIVES to read the PC Cards.
T.W.
Me too
Same issue here. I just inherited a Leica 1103. Based on the posts, here is what I came up with. Is this right? Thanks.
