Big fiber project covering several sections. One mile long road in particular punched in sometime in the 1960s, roughly following a 1/16 line but meandering to one side or the other by 40' or more, straight as a dog's hind leg, was dedicated to public use through the use of public use easements. The surveyor that prepared a total of 5 metes and bounds descriptions, as-built the road centerline and crafted his description to fit the road and prism. As this land has access to several lakes in the area, along come a number of very high priced residential developments and the utilities seek to obtain easements to provide the services these high end homes require. So what do these utilities do? They hit the 'Easy Button'. That Greek metes and bounds PUE description is way too complicated. Lets just describe our easements as 'The South15' of the North 45' of Government Lot Blah, Section Yada Yada.' Easy! Done. Looks great in our GIS!

Me: Say whaaattt? Houston, we have a problem.

Upside is I get paid to fix it.

Just because I'm paranoid, doesn't mean they aren't out to get me.
