Trying to determine if I can run OPUS sessions with my Trimble unit or not. Have done them in the past with other units.

Could someone tell me how to know if the unit has internal memory or if it works off of external sd card etc?

I also have a Trimble TSC3, and am wondering if I can run the sessions through the data collector. The only software I have for the office is Business Center, SCS Office Synchronizer and Data Manager as well as Carlson Survey 2010.

Primarily this unit is for site control and machine control. Mostly used for stakeout but need to collect some points on State Plane for a Dam job.

Thanks.

I doubt that you'll be able to. The SPS985 is a construction product designation, not aimed at traditional surveying market. I looked at the datasheet and the brochure, neither mention internal storage or the word static.

There is no technological reason that the unit cannot collect static data to the DC, but unless there is a command to do so in the software (I assume you're using Trimble's construction data collection platform and not Access - as I think they disable ability to communicate to construction equipment with Access) I seriously doubt you'll be able to make it work.

The SPS985 is essentially an R10, but they like to keep people compartmentali$ed.

What is running on your tsc3? Trimble access or is it something else for machine control work? If it is running Trimble access, you should be able to set up a survey style to run static, and then log to the data collector. Easy peasy.... let it cook for 3 hours and move to your next point. Do it again and send each file to opus. Make sure to write down start and stop time, antenna height, model of receiver, etc. Have fun and good luck!!

Not sure about the memory on that unit, but I had some older SPS780s that did.

Correct, but if I remember correctly Trimble won't allow Access to communicate with equipment from their construction line.

You will need to purchase the "Advanced Memory Module"

Then you can do OPUS sessions through GNSS.

Did you ever manage to do get the SPS to log data for OPUS??ÿ I am trying to figure out how to do this with a Trimble SPS855.?ÿ I have read in the manual that the SPS855 does not come configured to lag data.?ÿ I am hoping it is possible with changing some settings.?ÿ

?ÿ

I am trying to avoid climbing up on a roof and using a R10 where the SPS855's Zephyr GNSS Geodetic Model 2 antenna is screwed in.?ÿ That idea is not going over well, but I am not confident in the base's coordinate we are presently using.

It's my understanding that it is just an internal setting....

That the dealer has to change....

and it will cost you money to activate it!

Seriously, It is an option when you buy it but I have no idea how you would check to see if your is on or off.
