According to the Carlson website:

"The Carlson SurvCE 4.0 upgrade is free for those who upgraded their SurvCE software to 3.0. For those moving from any SurvCE 2.0 versions, the cost is $300. The price for 4.0 for those upgrading from an initial purchase of SurvCE 3.0 over this past year is $150. The price to purchase SurvCE remains the same as it has since 2007."

Not very clear, this message. There appears to be two classes of the version 3 users.

Not too sure why?

:-S

I know that they are offering a maintenance plan for SurvCE that is $150 per year. Sounds like they're counting the $150 upgrade from version 2 to version 3 as a purchase of the maintenance plan whereas those who bought version 3 new and didn't opt for the maintenance plan still have to pay. A bit confusing for sure.

I also got an email & message from a salesperson that said they kind of got the cart before the horse: 4.0 was apparently released a little before they were ready. I haven't been able to get a serial number yet for v4, but they are supposed to be working on it so that everyone that has upgraded to v3 will be elgible for v4.

Recently was the first that I had heard about a SurvCE maintenance plan, and haven't saw it offered anywhere. I heard last year they were going to offer it for SurvPC for $120 per year, but don't know of anyone who has it yet for either of them.

So, if last month I paid $150 to upgrade from v2 to v3, then I can upgrade again to v4 for free? But, if last month I paid $2495 to purchase SurvCE with GPS and Robotics, I have to pay another $150 to get version v4?

Hmmmm ...

Based on their press on their website, they've not changed the price of SurvCE for seven years so the guy who bought version two then upgraded to version 3 has paid $2645 total. 😉 With a new purchase in the past 90 days you should be covered anyway.B-)

I unsuccessfully tried to get my upgrade serial number for SurvCE 4 yesterday using the Maintenance Upgrade Serial Number Lookup tool on their website. I ended up calling in and requesting it by phone. The new serial number just arrived via email a few minutes ago.

I will be loading it on my FC-2500 a bit later today. I'll post again with any major changes/issues that I run across.
