Spent the last 4 days over in San Diego for a little vacation with the family, looked at the ground alot looking for monuments in the places we went,
found none at Sea Port Village
found none at the San Diego Zoo
found none at Mission Bay
found none at Pacific Beach
Walking back to the car to head back home from our last visit to the beach I trip over the crub in a cul-de-sac that I had walk and drove in at least 5 times. When I caught my balance this is what I was looking at.
Then I turn and relooked at the cal-de-sac and relized it was a large north arrow.
Glad this doesnt happen to me while I am working ........ often. lol.
That's pretty cool! Is magnetic north marked on the circle at all or do you have to eyeball the declination?
Don
You're fired!
Or did you set a new one?
BTW - You need a ride Prior?
Looks like you've been walking
a long time.
No it is not. The plaque is on the south side, I didnt see any thing else, walked all around it, even got down and removed the sand from the center. My wife kept yelling get out of the street you dont have your signs up or safty vest on.
Is that a radial engine? Can you post a full size photo?
Thanks rochs
But I been waitin on a train,
Don
yep thats it.
> yep thats it.
First time I've heard of a monument TOO BIG to find. Someone should stamp current declination in that plaque with their 1/8" number punches.
And you might need to restamp true north, too, after some earthquakes.
Why waste time stamping it? Isn't that why we have upside down spray paint?
"13 degrees 7.5 minutes to the East"
Obviously you weren't on vacation in Austin, that level of precision just don't fly down there 😉
I wonder how many people think that means 7.5 feet East?
Yes - same engine as the plane behind it.
Will have to find the pic - but I have one
mounted 90d different too. Can you imagine even idling around
on that? I am sure they are just show.
Here you go.
I would still like a hot rod lincoln.
