Hi Guys,

I'm not sure how many Australian members there are on the site but I'm after some information on Carlson SurvCE and since it seems to be most popular in the US this seems to be a good place to ask!

I've been trying to get into the knowledge base of the Carlson website for the last week or so but each time the page times out and says it is unavailable. Is the website under maintenance at the moment?

I have a Sokkia GSR2700 IS L1/L2 receiver which I'm currently controlling with Sokkia SDR+ software on an Allegro CX. The GSR2700 has an inbuilt GSM modem which I use to connect to our CORSnet reference station system here in New South Wales.

I'm considering replacing the SDR+ software which Sokkia now no longer seem to support with SurvCE but before I do so I want to make sure it will work with my Sokkia receiver and be able to access the inbuilt modem.

Has anyone used this combo before? Anyone else having problems with the Carlson website?

Thanks

The Carlson Knowledgebase at http://update.carlsonsw.com/kbase_main.php should be accessible. For an answer to your specific equipment configuration, I'd suggest dropping the Carlson Tech Support a note at [email protected] and they should be able to provide you with any additional information.

Sokkia sold Carlson themselves when the GSR2700 was a current model for them. That ended when Topcon came on the scene.

But Carlson should work fine with your GPS system.

Thanks Ladd,

The link you provided in your reply won't work either. It's very strange I can't load the survce.com website at all and can oly load the main page of the carlsonnsw.com page, if I try to look at the forums, knowledge base, product manuals etc the website won't load. The only thing I can think of is that Carlson have blocked Australian IP's from their website so that we have to contact our local re-sellers for support.

Will email the Tech Support address you listed and see if they can help.

Thanks for the reply!

The Australian IP address seems to be the problem.

Remembered reading an article at some stage about disguising your IP address, found a website to do this by searching "web proxy" in Google and accessed the Carlson website again, works fine!

I passed along your findings to one of our lead programmers/webmaster and was instructed:

>Can you please ask him a favor of doing whatismyip.com? I need to know the IP range getting rejected (just first couple of numbers would do).
>Thank you,
>Leonid

If you'd care to pass along your IP address (feel free to email me at lnelsonATcarlsonswDOTcom), I'll be sure to relay the info onto Leonid.
