Sunspots Will Peak In 2013

Then the predictions are for such a great decrease, that we will have a Little Ice Age.

Better give AlGore a call to work harder.

In about 2019. We just came out of a solar low in December 2008, activity will continue to increase until the next predicated maximum in May 2013, and the next low will be around 2019. I would expect to continue to see bad space weather the next few years. Used to be you planned the days work around the DOP, the ground weather and the space weather, at least one of those three doesn't require much planning any more, LOL.

According to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, a severe solar storm would be far worse than a 9.0 magnitude Earthquake and could leave about two thirds of the country's nuclear plants without power for one to two years.

Once outside power is lost, nuclear plants have diesel generators that can pump water to spent-fuel cooling pools for up to 30 days.

The extent of the meltdown threat is well-documented.

I think I'll go buy some solar panels while the factory is still getting plenty of nuclear power to build them. I suspect the price will go up after a flare up takes down the grid. 🙂 I'm seeing plenty of panels under $2/watt these days.
