I know its older Leica technology. I lost a key employee and am thinking about trying to do more with less.
I'm looking for something light, accurate and dependable. No cords...no external radios. Must be reflectorless and work with Carlson Surveyor 2s. Battery must be capable of doing stakeout or topoing a good 12 hr day without a charge.
How does it stack up against the current Leica robots?
Completely enjoying mine. While I am still getting to know it, it runs better than the newer QS Topcon with a Carlson Surveyor2. For the price it's hard to beat.
We have one at the office. I've used it quite a few times and really like it. Right now we have the Surveyor+ DC with the external Bluetooth antenna. The new Surveyor 2 will be coming in a few weeks. I have no experience with any other robots, so I have nothing to compare it to.

I have been wondering about the same, weighing my options on leaving where I am now to go back into private practice on my own. It looks like a great setup.
What is the prices for these in your area? I priced one with a collector and it came out more than a Leica TS12 with a collector. Both were 5" guns and came with the full kit
The Carlson CR2 is around 25k in the NW. Comes with a tripod, leica 360 prism, and a carlson 8 foot rod. Thought it was a little hokey trying something called Geomax but have met a lot of folks here in the NW with it now and none have anything bad to say.

That's about the same price ours was in PA for the CR2, tripod, rod, prism and Surveyor+ DC. It was around $5k less than a similarly equipped Leica if I recall correctly.

I have had mine for about 1 year now and really couldn't be happier. It has paid for itself plus made me a profit. I am looking at adding another crew set up with the same set as I have now. I use the Base/Rover (BRX5) from Carlson also. The Robot is not the latest greatest, but you would never know it. If you clients that like to see the latest and greatest, assuming they stay up to date on the latest surveying equipment, then buy the new stuff, but if you want a robot that is very practical as well as price friendly then I would recommend it.
I bought the CR2, which is the 2" robot. Really do like it. I hear through the grapevine that they will be adding a GPS locator on the Robot so it will have the same functionality as the S6 with the GPS lock as well.

I really like your signature line. Love me some Sturgill existentialisms...
I have the Geomax Robot and it has been by far the best investment I have made so far. I just opened my business less than a year ago it has played a huge role in keeping my overhead down. I'm using the Carlson surveyor 2. As far as price goes call Donna George at Allen Precision they can get a full setup at a lower price than what others have posted. Tell her Aaron Garrett referred you, I was in their office Friday buying a GPS unit, great folks.
