Guys n Gals,

I am a solo operator doing occasional boundary and construction layout, just embarking on the GPS experience.

I have two Promark 2(L1 only) units - in excellent shape. I am looking at purchasing something like the Promark 220 which is dual frequency, WAAS, capable of Real-Time coords from our state wide Real-Time Network.

IF I get the Promark 220, do I need the two Promark 2 units?
IF I can benefit from the Promark 2 units, how would I use them?

thanx,

Geezer

Yes, you can use the PM2 units in conjuction with the PM200 to set static control. I use my two PM3 units with my Hipers all the time.

My work area is so large that cell phone coverage at times is sporadic. I use the L1/L2 and OPUS to get "on the grid" while running static sessions with both sets of units.

They are another tool in the toolbox, and will still have their place.

Although I just sold mine a few months ago, my PM2s were probably my best investment in the last 12 or 13 years.

I also had "way-too-much" experience with post-processing when I purchased them. Post-processing should be a required study in higher education. It allows one to see what is really going on with the data.

Hang on to 'em.

Paden...

I have 3 PM3s I would be glad to sell to you.

Only two are working; I'm only really selling two.

I'm not sure why one isn't working but I'd give it to you as part of the deal; it might be repairable.

I will test the other two to make sure they still work before I send them off.

One thing I know for sure, my Dietzgen transit always works properly every time I get it out of the box.

I also have a Topcon GPT3005LW total station that is gathering dust; I could probably be convinced to part with it too. It's in very good condition and only has been touched by me, never carried on the tripod, etc.
