I just visited my drone manufacturer's webpage and that is what it says:

Dear DJI Customer,
On December 12, 2015, Google will stop supporting Google Earth. Since DJI's PC Ground Station software is based on the Google Earth API, we will also discontinue support for PC Ground Station.....

Google is discontinuing support for the web API, not for the desktop application. At least not yet.

Jim, I really do appreciate you staying on top of this for us. I enjoy using GE to plot my job numbers for nearly 14 years of jobs now.

I have over 20 years of jobs plotted in GE, and I use it regularly for recon and planning. There are other tools available to accomplish these tasks, but as long as this one is working I'll probably stick with it.

it is good that not the program itself, but this does seem like a good sign, rather early warning to look for alternatives, and for drone users this situation is like Trimble's TGO trick for us a few years ago 😉
