So i was out this afternoon and was having to clear a few branches off a thorn apple to get the backsite..... the sandvich has migrated from my truck to some other deserving individual's I'm sure. anyway I needed to knock a few branches off.....
light bulb.
I grab the spud bar- my spud bar has a spade tip on one end and a tamper foot on the other. so i sally forth toward the thorn apple- It's about 35^ out which isn't optimum...the branches are a bit springy...I line up the spade and easily break off 3 of the branches.. the last one is a bit bigger and on the far side of the main branch. At this time, my previous success had clouded my judgement, so I'm thinking I'll just backhand the branch off....
well- the arc distance of the spade point was about 4 feet, and the spade point came to an ABRUPT HALT- however the pivot point of the bar was my left hand and all the energy of the blow drove the tamping end of the bar into my left quad...o.O
I was doing a pretty good 'limp-hop in a circle" method of pain mitagation there for a few minutes.
Patrick McManus would have been so proud...
So basically you were acting like Rancid Crabtree trying to impress Pat and Crazy Eddie Muldoon? 😉

I had to look up the Thorn Apple
wondering if it was kin to the Horse Apple
or the Osage Orange
or even the Bois d'arc tree
Either way...that yellow SOB with the thorns will make you earn yer pay...
DDSM:beer:
I feel your pain!:pinch:
It's more to carry in the truck, but we have 2 Sandvik Brush Axes just to avoid the 'branch dance' you "enjoyed"!
Happy bruise monitoring !

Strange terms conjure up strange perceptions. I've heard of baby bumps, so, a monkey bump must be in the same area but suggests the future arrival of a monkey. Not real sure just what procedure is involved to GIVE YOURSELF such a thing.
Time for someone to repost the link to the scene in Monty Python and the Holy Grail with the Black Knight declaring it's only a flesh wound.
doing better today- the knot has disappeared and I'm actually alternating legs when climbing stairs. didn't get much sympathy from Mrs. File...."you did WHAT"....
